Yes, Fun Is Good is actually both the name and philosophy of a company!

While Fun Is Good started as a book telling stories of the successes and failures that Mike Veeck experienced in his many years as a marketing, sales & promotions expert, it has morphed into a very cool consulting company.  The Fun Is Good presenter’s humor, passion and creativity has been recognized nationally and, for over 20 years, they’ve been presenting this Fun Is Good philosophy to hundreds of organizations.

Our presenters help teams and organizations of all sizes to adopt an engaging, fun and collaborative work culture.  We do this through inspiring and fun keynote speeches, seminars, corporate entertainment, and workshops delivered by our highly skilled speakers, trainers, industry experts and entertainers.

The Veeck Family History:  The Veeck name has been renown in the world of baseball since 1937 when William Veeck Sr. planted the Ivy on the walls of Wrigley Field in Chicago.  Since then the Veeck family has taken significant risks in business to not only generate revenue and build fan loyalty, but also to “do the right thing.” We learn so much when we do what’s right. . .  like when Bill Veeck Jr. hired Larry Doby as the first African American player in the American League. It may not have been a popular move in 1947, but it was the right thing to do as Doby was supremely talented and improved the success of the team.  But what do you do when your baseball team isn’t winning many games and isn’t successful?  Mike Veeck’s parents worked hard to convince non-baseball fans to enter the ballpark simply to enjoy the fun, circus-like antics with their family.  And, for those who wanted to see great baseball, they got that too (most seasons…).

With the love of the game, a keen sense of business and an absolute need for FUN, Mike Veeck approaches every ballclub and business endeavor with 3 simple words … FUN IS GOOD.  In 2007 Mike was encouraged by friends and colleagues to write-down his thoughts about his Fun Is Good mantra that he attributes to one of his childhood heroes, Theodor Seuss Geisel.  Veeck wrote the book Fun Is Good to explain how he begins every marketing plan for the many baseball clubs, restaurants and businesses he has owned and/or operated.  The title of each marketing plan was: Fun Is Good.  He realized that when a department or an entire organization proudly and clearly states their values, the they will attract people who share the same values and bring both passion and joy to the job and their co-workers and customers.  For Veeck’s ballclubs, those values have always been “Affordable Family Fun.”  Therefore, it was very fitting for all his businesses to proclaim. . . Fun Is Good!

For decades Mike Veeck shared his business vision and marketing philosophy to anyone who would listen.  The more he talked about Fun Is Good, the more tickets he sold and the more business his companies would generate.  Despite many widely publicized failures, eventually everyone saw the direct correlation between taking risks, holding true to your core values and having fun. . . with the genuine definition of success.  Veeck’s ballclubs have been awarded in the areas of excellent customer service, outstanding employee retention and unbeatable fan/customer loyalty.

Through the eyes of a fortune 500 corporate executive, Veeck’s success was magnetic.  After 25 years as the VP of Customer Care, Sales, Marketing and Operations for large corporations, Fran Zeuli convinced his good friend, Mike Veeck, to share his successes and failures with organizations outside of the sports industry.  Zeuli knew the Fun Is Good philosophy used in Mike’s businesses was desperately needed by organizations of all sizes!   So, since 2014, Mike Veeck and Fran Zeuli have been traveling around the country sharing stories and citing personal experiences that proves: When employees are allowed to work within their personal strengths and passions, they are more creative, more productive and more collaborative.  When this happens, they enjoy what they do and actually have fun in the process - resulting in greater customer satisfaction and success for the entire organization.

The need for organizations and leaders to motivate and inspire their workforce has dramatically increased over the years and many have looked to Fun Is Good to expand on each element of the philosophy.  To address that client need, Fun Is Good enlists a variety of presenters with vast knowledge in their area of expertise.  In 2015 Karen Chapple became the 3rd partner in Fun Is Good to lead development, marketing and operations.
